Three Important Ingredients

For the purpose to be strong, it needs to come from your heart, be specific, and be unconditional.

Come from your heart means that it has to be really authentic to you. It’s not necessarily what your boss, your wife, your religion, or your society wants your purpose to be. It’s up to you to dig deep and get a true purpose that you feel passionate about. Both halves of my purpose ‘came to me’ as undeniable truths that I had to live, but often there is no ‘calling’ as such. You might have to dig in and really listen to your heart and try out different paths to uncover your deep purpose.

Specific means that you really choose every word of your purpose. I could write a paragraph about each word in mine and explain why it’s there. Specific also means not too universal. In my purpose, I added ‘and human transformation,’ because just ‘a servant of God’s love’ was a little too vague for me. Over the years I have gotten clearer on how I am meant to serve that high principle of ‘God’s love’ – the main way I do it is by facilitating human transformation.

Unconditional means that your purpose is your purpose, no matter what. It so happens that my career as an author and transformational teacher as it is today totally fits my purpose. But, as I mentioned before, this purpose has been executed in many different ways over the years. My purpose would still be my purpose, even if I could no longer do this work. It would be my purpose if I worked at a supermarket or was locked up in prison, or was in a catastrophe: the building’s on fire; I’m serving God’s love. My purpose is to be an excellent and loving soul-father even if – heaven forbid – I were to lose my kids. I will be a soul-father to my life, to my world. It is what I am. Following this purpose is what keeps my King in his seat.
